Ceramicist - Brand Identity.

Shaped by hand and heart, as nature forms and flows.

Reflecting the natural world.

This was a branding project that absolutely had to begin with gaining an appreciation of the pieces created by ceramicist Susan Walter. Inspired by the forms and flow of nature, each individual piece reflects the natural world and a love of plant life.

Handling the pieces, the sense of something shaped by hand and heart led to the selection of colours and textures drawn from the reference points and materials used to create them.

The story to be told.

The identity had to tell the story of an artisan who creates work that shows in stillness there is movement, and does so through the use of texture, colour, scale, shape and form.

From an extensive portfolio of statement pots and vases to giants necklaces full of scale and installations composed of unique elements, a strong sense of poetry and emotion runs through every piece of work.

Giving voice to the brand.

Discovering the inspiration behind the work helped give voice to the brand, and typography was styled to speak with a poetic tone of voice.

A classic serif font, Suranna, was chosen for the logotype and headlines, with words allowed to flow together in interlocking groups, just as the materials flow together to form each piece.
