I/O Studio – Presenting Feel Something Films.

Making the information that doesn’t move, as compelling as the imagery that does.

A story to be told.

Invited to review the comms and pitch decks shared with me by Montreal-based creative video production team I/O Studio, and then to press play on their showreel, it was immediately clear there were two platforms speaking very different languages.

Presentation decks and digital comms were telling a dry, informational story of service and output, whilst the showreel was demonstrating I/O’s ability to make truly exceptional films. Press ‘play’ and you see outstanding creative work for major global brands - films that tell stories, connect with audiences, make people feel something.

Following a discovery session with the I/O Studio team, we recognised the clear need to make their information that doesn’t move, as compelling as their imagery that does.

Graphic grid system.

The brief, therefore, was to create a visual comms strategy designed to ensure that I/O Studio could reflect their exceptional level of filmmaking in their presentations, pitch decks and digital presence.

My approach was to build a graphic grid system, onto which key brand statements, detailed descriptions, imagery of the team, and video inserts could be overlaid. Typography was made bold and consistent, and just one colour was introduced – the red of the Canadian flag.

Strength and emotion.

The grid system also allowed a more powerful application of the I/O logo. Representing the companies approach to filmmaking – data and insight driven ‘Input’ leading to effective and emotive ‘Output’ – the logo was updated and given more presence.

The result, a visual comms strategy that will allow I/O Studio to tell their story of making films that ‘make people feel something’ – and do so with strength and emotion across presentations, pitch decks, media and screens.
